An Update from the Chief Executive Officer of University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men - Mr. Walter Larkin Jr.
UPREP Family, October 8th, 2020, is listed as a half-day and Friday, October 9th is listed as Superintendent's Conference Day on the School Calendar.
We are adjusting the schedule to have a full regular school day on October 8th, 2020 and a shortened Conference Day on October 9th, 2020. Please note these changes on your schedule.
*No School for Students on Conference Day.
Greetings UPrep Family,
It is with a broken heart that we come to you about another tragic loss to the UPrep Community. Yesterday night, one of our 2019 Graduates was killed in a massive shooting. Along with him, 15 others were shot, and young lady from East also loss her life.
Mayor Warren is opening the Rec Centers today at the following locations through 5:00pm for the community to gather and grieve. Counselors will be on hand to provide support.

The school will be open tomorrow from 11-3 for Uprep students, alumni, and staff who need additional support. Please note we will be following social distancing guidelines. This includes all visitors wearing mask and having their temperatures checked before entry.
We will update you on funeral arrangements and additional support to the family over the course of this week.
Please keep his family, the young lady from East family, the other 14 victims, and the Rochester Community in your Thoughts & Prayers. We will get through this together.

Today Governor Cuomo announced that he will be issuing an Executive Order extending mandatory closure for all New York state schools to the end of the academic year. UPrep will be closed for the remainder of the academic year. Furthermore, all Spring and August Regents exams have been cancelled. Summer School Announcements will be made at the end of May.

In light of the current situation in Monroe County and growing ned for all citizens to practice measure to slow the spread of COVID-19, University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men will be closed effective Monday, March 16th, 2020 until further notice pending further guidance from Monroe County Health Department and the CDC. This closure applies to all school related functions and events as well as instruction.
